SOUTH KINGSTOWN — One firefighter was treated for a minor injury but no other injuries were reported following a large blaze at 17 Briarwood Drive during the early hours of Wednesday morning, according to a statement from the Union Fire District.

Crews from four stations were dispatched to the scene following the initial report of the blaze at approximately 12:30 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found “heavy fire” coming from the rear of the home.

All of the home’s occupants were confirmed to be out safely, and a call was issued for additional manpower. The blaze was extinguished within approximately 45 minutes, and crews worked for an additional two hours conducting salvage and overhaul work.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by state and local fire marshals.
