Narragansett Little League’s 8U all-stars went 5-0 to capture the championship at the Battle for the Boro tournament in Attleboro, Massachusetts earlier this month.
The team opened with a 14-4 win over Seekonk. Aiden Sullivan earned the win on the mound, while Hunter Kopf, Reed Gendron and Rory Plaziak all had three hits.
The second game was a nail-biter, with Narragansett rallying for an 8-7 win over Attleboro on Edward Audet’s game-winning hit. Audet also pitched three scoreless innings of relief. Narragansett was down 7-2 in the fifth before the comeback.
The next day, the team rolled to a 10-0 win over Uxbridge, as Plaziak tossed three no-hit innings.
In semifinal action, Narragansett beat Dighton 11-5. Sullivan picked up another win on the hill. Kopf, Sullivan and Max Downey all had multi-hit games.
The victory sent Narragansett to the championship, where it rolled on with a 14-3 win over Whaling City. Plaziak pitched three scoreless innings and was helped by great defensive efforts from catcher Luke Taliani, Audet and Lica Riccitelli. Kopf, Downey, Sullivan, Liam Boyd and Declan Bellows all had multi-hit performances.
