Seniors Kyle Murphy and Aaron Parker are among 14 CAA Football players named to the STATS FCS Preseason All-America Team announced Tuesday.

Murphy earned a spot on the first-team offensive line, while Parker garnered second-team recognition at wide receiver. Both players had previously been named to the CAA Football Preseason All-Conference Team.

This is the second preseason All-America nod for Murphy this year. The left tackle also was a first-team honoree by Hero Sports. Murphy – who has started 25 consecutive games for Rhode Island – earned CAA Football First Team All-Conference recognition, as well as a spot on the New England Football Writer’s Association All-New England Team.

He was a major reason Rhode Island averaged 121.6 yards per game on the ground last season, the team’s highest per game average since 2013. Rhody also ran for 15 touchdowns, the team’s highest total in 11 seasons. Murphy led the team with 40 pancake blocks on the year.

Parker exploded in 2018, leading all CAA Football players in receiving yards, receiving yards per game and touchdown receptions. He finished the season with 61 catches for 955 yards and 10 touchdowns. He led Rhode Island with 66 points scored, as he also rushed for one touchdown.

Parker was 15th in the nation with his 10 touchdown catches, becoming the seventh player in program history with at least 10 in one season. He was 24th in the nation with 955 receiving yards, the sixth most in a season by a Ram. Parker was 30th in the nation with 5.5 catches per game.
