The South Kingstown School District is pursuing funding for school facilities investments through the State’s School Construction Program, which would provide reimbursement for at least 35 percent and as much as 50 percent of eligible costs. South Kingstown’s Stage II submission to the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) is due in February 2021 but must first be approved by both the School Committee and the Town Council. If RIDE approves the submission, South Kingstown would hold a special election in the spring of 2021 for voters to approve or reject a bond referendum for $85 million to finance the projects.

The School Building Committee will livestream a Community Presentation to provide residents an overview of the proposed projects and to respond to questions and comments from the questionnaire.

Following the presentation, the Superintendent and School Committee will co-host two Listening Sessions in December for residents to provide additional feedback and ask questions about the proposals.

For those who are not able to view the presentation on November 30, the session will be recorded and posted on the project website.
