This week, Rhode Island Superior Court judge Jeffrey A. Lanphear heard arguments from attorneys representing over 30 parents in a lawsuit attempting to overturn Gov. Dan McKee's executive order requiring students in Rhode Island schools to wear masks while in the classroom. In the lawsuit, the parents argue mask-wearing poses harm to students and negatively impacts their physical and mental health. They are attempting to overturn McKee's executive order on the grounds that it unconstitutional. Do you agree that the mask mandate should be overturned by the courts? Why or why not? Let us know in this week's poll question below.

Just to circle back, if the mask mandates are unconstitutional, and provide no benefit to slow the spread of the virus, and actually (as I posted below) are proven to be harmful to our health, can anyone tell me why these mandates are in place? The scientific proof I provided in my previous comments were just a small compilation of articles - over 257 - I have vetted and read. Very easy to find now, the censorship of these studies are gone. Just google and read. Indisputable evidence that mask mandates don't make sense on every level. This is based on hard facts. And historically, during the Spanish flu epidemic, it was determined from numerous sources, that masks did nothing to slow the spread, and were found to be contributing to the health hazard. So, we have historical evidence to add to the evidence that mask mandates must be stopped immediately.

I would ask the governor to cancel his executive order requiring children and teenagers to wear masks in schools. They pose a serious physical health risk, they are ineffective in protecting the wearer or people physically close to the wearer of Covid transmission, and they are psychologically damaging to the mental well-being of the students. I provided scientific references below. If we are looking at the science, no one - especially children - need to wear a mask. I would ask that until the governor and the RIDOH director can prove the science I provided wrong, he should immediately cease all mask mandates. On a common sense level, it is the state that has made these mask mandates, therefore, prove to US, your RI constituents, the case as to WHY we need to wear them. The burden of proof is on the ones who are mandating compliance. Not the other way around. However, I hope this information helps people to understand why mask mandates are dangerous to our health. Thank you.

Last but not least, the American Medical Association (AMA) published a report in June 2021, revealed that forcing children to wear masks leads to adverse health effects. JAMA Pediatrics, a top rated monthly journal published by the AMA, found wearing face masks increases the amount of carbon dioxide in inhaled air to unhealthy levels. This study included 45 children ages 6- 17 while wearing masks. Normal carbon dioxide in the air is 400 parts per million (ppm). The JAMA report measured 13,120 to 13,910 rpm of carbon dioxide in the inhaled air of children wearing masks, which is over 6 times higher than the unsafe threshold. ***The study further pointed out this measurement was after only three minutes of wearing a mask.

On the website: https://www.lifesitenews.com has an article, "Study shows how masks are harming children", dated March 3, 2021, by Dr. Joseph Mercola. Here are a few bullet points from the article: (1) children have experienced great psychological, behavioral. and physical harm from the mask mandates and lockdowns (2) data from the 1st registry to record children's experiences with masks show an increase in irritability, difficulty concentrating, and impaired learning (3) measurements of anxiety or depressive disorder (4) study finds schools are not super spreaders (5) there was a significant increase of parents seeking treatment for attention deficit disorder for their children.

The article has alot more information. Please go to the website. The article also reflects on the ramifications for children in terms of their mental health with the spike in suicides in children and teenagers during 2020.

Also, on the AIER website, an article dated 11/27/2020, called "The Strangely Unscientific Masking of America" by Jenin Younes, states the infamous tweet by the U.S. surgeon on 2/29/2020 stating "Seriously people - STOP BUYING MASKS...They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus"

According to the comprehensive documentation by Dr. Roger W. Loops in a recent American Institute of Economic Research (AIER) publication, there is no clear scientific evidence that masks (surgical or cloth) work to mitigate risk to the wearer or those coming into contact with the wearer. This can be found at https://www.aier.org.

According to many scientific studies, wearing masks for an extended period (over 1 hour), poses a real health threat. According to John Meehan, MD, here are some proven statements as to how wearing masks adversely affects ones health: (1) they adversely affect respiratory physiology & function, (2) they lower oxygen levels in the blood (3) they raise carbon dioxide levels in the blood (4) they trap exhaled viral (and other) pathogens in the mouth/mask interspace, thus increasing viral/infectious load (5) the during cleavage site of Covid- 19 increases cellular invasion, especially during hypoxia (low O2 levels) (6) they collect & colonize viruses, bacteria, and mold (7) high risk of contracting Covid-19 & other respiratory infections.
